The Journalism Students’ Online News Service (JSONS) became an official student work publication vehicle. It was Emerson’s first online news service to go public and was developed by IT and journalism faculty.

Emerson European Institute for International Communication
Emerson opened its international branch, the European Institute for International Communication, in Maastricht, The Netherlands. Students and faculty came mainly from Europe. The Dutch government gave EIIC a historic building for administration/classroom/studio space and a former nunnery for a dormitory. Library needs were accommodated by the University of Limburg. Founding dean was journalism Prof. Manny Paraschos.

Emerson College Magazine
Journalism college - Emerson College Magazine; Journalism college - Emerson Quarterly
In 1892, the first issue of the Emerson College Magazine was published in order to publish the methods and principles of Emerson College. By 1920, the name had changed to Emerson Quarterly, and was published quarterly rather than monthly. The focus of the publication had also shifted to alumni.

Zeta Phi Eta, established at Emerson College in 1908, is a national professional coed fraternity in the communication arts and sciences. Founded at Northwestern University in 1893, Zeta Phi Eta is the oldest national group of its kind.
