Ploughshares
Literary journals - Ploughshares
Ploughshares is founded by Emerson professor DeWitt Henry and Peter O’Malley. Many notable writers have published in the journal through the years. Those most notable for having published their first work (or very early in their career) are Sue Miller, Tim O’Brien, Jayne Anne Phillips, Robert Pinsky, and Edward P. Jones, among others.

Hillel
In 1946, the Menorah club became Hillel. Emerson Hillel, the college's union of Jewish students, continues to thrive today as a home for Jewish campus life with the support of Hillel Council of New England.

Athletics Come to Emerson
1931 saw the birth of Emerson’s recreation club, created to encourage athletic activities such as hiking and roller skating. The club launched Emerson's first intramural sports program in 1933 with volleyball, rigging a net inside Huntington Hall. "Wave your hands in the air like you don't care..."

This is Pathetic
"This is Pathetic," Emerson College's only all long-form improvisational comedy troupe, was formed in 1981.
The troupe originally specialized in mime and puppetry, later turning their focus on social satire through sketches, improv, and film.

Lions make the NCAA tournament
The Lions make the NCAA Tournament.
The 2007 team won all four games in the GNAC championship earning them a spot in the NCAA tournament and making the Lions the first Emerson team to ever play in a national championship.
